Brentwood High School soccer coach Mike Purcell has been named the 2007-08 State of Tennessee Soccer Coach of the Year. He has also been nominated by the TSSAA as the National Federation of High School Association’s Coach of the Year. Coach Purcell led the Bruin Soccer Team to a 24-0 record and the TSSAA AAA State Championship. The team recorded 20 shut-outs and finished the season as the top ranked team in the nation. Anybody who is involved in team sports realizes how difficult it is to win a state championship. But to go undefeated, win the TSSAA state championship, and be ranked number one in the nation is a monumental and extraordinary achievement. Please join me in congratulating Coach Mike Purcell on this outstanding and well-deserved honor.
